Notes from the Board
Happy Fall to SGNA members and friends!
It's hard to believe that we are nearing the end of another year. I hope everyone has had a happy and healthy 2011! We had two great meeting this year for Western NC SGNA, the March meeting which was held at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem and the October meeting which was held at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro.
We look forward to equally great and well attended meeting for 2012. The spring meeting will again be held at Forsyth Medical Center. The coordinators for this meeting will be a team from Digestive Health Specialists in Winston-Salem, dates and details will follow as available. The fall meeting will be coordinated by Marci Timmons from Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, again, details will follow. Please plan to attend these meetings next year. Your attendance and vendor support is vital to the success of our organization.
The results for the 2012 Western NC SGNA officers are as follows:
Sherrie Andrew - President
Marci Timmons - President Elect
Diane Bowen - Immediate Past President
Connie Williams - Secretary
Rebecca Bottoms - Treasurer
Judy Petticord - Member at Large
Please join me in thanks and appreciation to each of these individuals for agreeing to serve on your board. As always, feel free to direct any questions or concerns to your board members. We will have a board meeting in December or early January to transition to new officers.
The accomplishment that I am most proud of this year is the implementation of online registration and the PayPal system for payment. This has streamlined the process and made the treasurer's job much easier. We will continue to refine the online registration process to easily facilitate the transfer of information to the program chairperson. The business meeting minutes from the March meeting are being posted, and the October minutes should be up soon. My apologies for the delay.
Sherrie Andrew and Marci Timmons attended the annual leadership conference on November 5th and 6th. This is a great session; lots of information and new perspectives, as well as the opportunity to network with other SGNA leaders. I encourage many of you to consider running for a board position in the future. It really is not as scary and time consuming as you might envision! It is a great learning experience.
I would like to express my thanks to the 2011 board members for a great year! Again, best wishes to each of you for a happy and safe Thanksgiving and Christmas season! I have enjoyed my year serving as your 2011 president, and welcome the new officers for 2012.
Sincerely,
Diane Bowen, RN, BSN, CGRN
WNCSGNA President 2011
